Amazing Benefits and Uses of Activated Charcoal

Posted by Odaliz Galdamez on

What is activated charcoal?

Before we get into more detail, first we have to know what activated charcoal is.

Activated charcoal is a byproduct of slowly burnt wood, peat or coconut shells treated with oxygen. This creates a substance that is highly porous, and nonpolar, which allows it to bind or absorb toxins. The charcoal powder created is odorless and tasteless.

How is it used?

The nature of activated charcoal allows it to be very versatile. Products for charcoal can range from just the powder to charcoal soaps, and even toothpastes. You could also mix it into shampoos or various other products.

Health Benefits

Activated charcoal has numerous benefits. Some of the benefits of activated charcoal for skin care and hair care include:

  • Deep cleansing the skin
  • Making your pores smaller and cleaner
  • Treating acne and healing scars
  •  Controlling excess oil on the skin
  • Soothing skin irritations
  • Cleansing the scalp
  • Treating dandruff
  • Adding volume to the hair

These are only a few of the ways charcoal can be used and be beneficial. Activated charcoal is one of the most effective substances to have been tested for removing harmful toxins out of our bodies. • the charcoal peel-off mask works well to remove the impurities from the skin. I can see the whiteheads, small facial hairs, and other impurities stuck on the inner side of the mask. It does make the pores clean and I can feel my skin breathe. I used to have few blackheads on both sides of my nose, and this peel-off mask removed them in the very first application. Post application, I never felt any itching on my skin, neither there were any breakouts. In fact, skin feels fresh and clean and looks brighter and naturally glowing.
